In short: ARIA collects nothing. It has no account, no servers of its own, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Everything it does is between the device it runs on and your own Home Assistant.
What ARIA stores
On the device only, in the app's private storage:
- Your Home Assistant address, and the sign-in (or access token) that lets ARIA talk to it.
- Your panel settings and tile layout, and the date your free trial started.
- If you set one, a scrambled (salted and hashed) form of your settings PIN - never the PIN itself.
Uninstalling ARIA, or clearing its storage in Android's settings, deletes all of it. Signing out in ARIA also withdraws its access in Home Assistant.
Who ARIA talks to
- Your Home Assistant, at the address you give it, to show and control your home. Alarm codes you type are sent to your Home Assistant to arm or disarm, as with any Home Assistant app.
- Your local network, to find Home Assistant when you first set ARIA up.
- Google Play, through the Play Store app on the device, to check whether you've unlocked ARIA and to show its price. If you buy the unlock, Google Play handles the payment under Google's privacy policy; ARIA never sees your payment details.
Nobody else. When you sign in, your Home Assistant (not ARIA) may look up this website to confirm the app's identity; your password is typed into Home Assistant's own login page and is never seen by ARIA or this site.
Permissions
- Network access - to reach your Home Assistant.
- Notifications - only asked for if you let the screen sleep: on some devices Android only lets apps that may show notifications switch the screen back on. ARIA doesn't send notifications.
- Keep awake / start at boot - so the panel stays on and comes back after a restart.
ARIA also reads the device's battery level, on the device, to show a warning if it loses power.
Children
ARIA isn't directed at children and doesn't knowingly handle their personal information.
